Rules & Regulations
1. Introduction
William & William Gabuelo Badminton Academy (WWGBA) and Playground Badminton Court in cooperation with
Alabang Town Center (ATC) and
Babolat organized this badminton tournament for the growth and development of Badminton as an international sport in the Philippines. The organizers tapped the age-group (grass-roots) and the professionals (sponsor-to-be) to foster relationship for possible sponsorship of young and promising players.

• Men's Doubles Level A – E

3. Governing Rules
This tournament will be governed by the Laws of Badminton as amended and adopted by
BWF during the current year. The organizers and tournament director shall be the ultimate governing body authorized to officiate during the tournament proper. Decisions for the purpose of resolving issues shall be final and executory. The organizers and tournament director likewise reserves the right to issue official and final decisions on matters not covered by any of the rules written in this document.
4. Eligibility, Leveling & Draw
4.1 For Age Group Players - (Singles & Doubles)
• 4.1.1 Photocopy of NSO Certified Birth Certificate must be attached. Original Copy must be presented.
• 4.1.2 Tampered NSO certificates shall be considered grounds for disqualification.
• 4.1.3 Age group categories will be as follows: 11 & under, 13 & under, 15 & under.
• 4.1.4 Age cut-off shall be the player’s birth-date on or before the set Finals date.
• 4.1.5 Deadline of submission of entries will be on September 17, 2011 (Saturday) 5:00 PM.
• 4.1.6 Draw date is on September 18, 2011 (Sunday), 4:00 PM at Playground Badminton Court.
• 4.1.7 Registration forms submitted w/o the required documents as indicated in 4.1.1 will not be drawn.
4.2 For Level Doubles Players
• 4.2.1 Open to players 16 years old & above.
• 4.2.2 Age cut-off shall be the player’s birth-date before the set finals date.
• 4.2.3 Former and current national team members are NOT allowed to participate.
• 4.2.4 Former and current college varsity players, coaches and trainers are allowed to participate provided that they will automatically be classified under Level-A.
• 4.2.5 Deadline for submission of entries and draw date (refer to 4.1.5 & 4.1.6)
• 4.2.6 Leveling starts September 5, 2011 (Monday) at Playground Badminton Court:
o Join us on Queuing days where leveling will be conducted.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – 8:00 PM and onward.
Saturdays – 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• 4.2.7 Entries and eligibility shall be determined, evaluated and approved by the committee.
5. Tournament Format
5.1 For Age Group Players – (Singles & Doubles) Knock out system.
5.2 For Level Players – The tournament will be composed of 2 stages:
• 5.2.1 Qualifying Stage (single round-robin)
• 5.2.2 Final Stages (knock-out sytem)
5.3 The top player / pair for each group will qualify for the next round.
6. Scoring
6.1 For Age Group Players
• 6.1.1 Qualifying stage: Best of 3 games, 1-21 rally point system (
BWF standard)
6.2 For Level Players
• 6.2.1 Qualifying stage: Single game, race to 35, rally point system.
• 6.2.2 Change-court upon reaching 18 points.
• 6.2.3 No two (2) point advantage setting will be allowed for “deuce of 34”.
6.3 Semi-finals & Finals (Age Group & Level Players)
• 6.3.1 Best of 3 games, 1-21 rally point system (BWF standard).
• 6.3.2 The side winning a game serves first in the next game.
• 6.3.3 Faults and line call disputes shall be solely decided upon by the assigned umpire.
7. Coaching
Coaching will be allowed to coach during regulation interval. Only one (1) coach is allowed to stay beside the court while games are at play. One (1) coach’s chair will be provided for this purpose.
8. Injuries
In the event of injury, treatment shall be allowed for five (5) minutes. Muscle Cramp will not qualify as injury. After which the umpire shall verify with the injured player whether or not s/he can resume play. If for any reason, the injured player cannot continue, the umpire shall declare the opposing player or team winner by retirement.
9. Shuttlecock
The official shuttlecock of the event will be provided by
Babolat. No other shuttlecock brand will be allowed in the entirety of the competition.
11. Attire
• Qualifying stage: All Players are required to comply with the prescribed badminton attire.
• Semi-final and Final stage: Recommended to wear uniforms (at least for upper garments). Special gifts will be available for players who will comply.
12. Defaulting of Players
All players are required to report to match-control 30 minutes before their designated match. Players who are not in their designated court 10 minutes after the 1st call shall automatically forfeit the match and declare the opposing player / team as winner by default.
13. Indemnity
The organizers of this tournament and their designated officials shall not be held liable on injuries for players or misfortune for the spectators in participation of this tournament.
14. Tournament Fee
• Age Group: PhP 200.00 / Player | (Knock-out System)
• Level Doubles: PhP 300.00 / Player | (Round Robin)
15. Prizes
Champion: 3rd Event Medal,
